Annotation Editor
Lay out approval-step annotations precisely with multi-select, alignment, and distribution tools in the Document Ocean 360 PDF annotation editor.
When you configure an approval step that places stamps, signature boxes, or text annotations onto a PDF, the annotation editor is where you position them. The editor includes layout tooling so multi-annotation pages come out clean and consistent — no pixel-nudging one box at a time.
Selecting Annotations
- Single select — click any annotation box.
- Multi-select — hold Shift and click additional boxes to add them to the selection.
- Marquee select — click and drag on empty canvas to draw a selection rectangle; every box it touches becomes selected.
With two or more boxes selected, the layout controls appear in a floating control bar by the selection and in the right-hand panel.
Aligning Annotations
Alignment works relative to the bounding box of the current selection:
- Horizontal — align left edges, horizontal centers, or right edges.
- Vertical — align top edges, vertical middles, or bottom edges.
Select the boxes that should line up, then click the alignment you want — for example, align-left to produce a tidy column of signature fields.
Distributing Annotations
With three or more boxes selected, distribution tools space them evenly:
- Distribute horizontally — equal horizontal gaps between boxes.
- Distribute vertically — equal vertical gaps between boxes.
The outermost boxes stay where they are; the boxes between them are repositioned to even out the spacing.
Fine Positioning with the Keyboard
- Arrow keys — nudge the selected box (or boxes) one small step in any direction.
- Shift + arrow keys — nudge in larger steps for faster coarse positioning.
A fast layout recipe
Drag a marquee around all of your signature boxes, align their left edges, then distribute vertically — three clicks and the column is perfectly spaced. Use arrow keys for the final fine-tuning.
